Students in Toyna Seay’s fourth-grade class at Blaney Elementary won the Field Day tug-of-war competition. There also were water games, bouncer to play on and test of agility and strength. Blaney Elementary fourth- and fifth-graders donned straw hats and ended the year with a hoedown. Led by principal Lisa Carter and curriculum coach Frank Miller, students learned the Virginia reel. Later families gathered for picnics on the grounds.
