Obituary of Corlene R Murphy
LUGOFF – Funeral service for Corlene Rosetta Murphy, 81, will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Matthews Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Mrs. Murphy, wife of the late Leslie Murphy, Jr., died Friday, November 9, 2007. Born in Lugoff, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Shannon Murphy. A dedicated member of St. Matthews Baptist Church, she was a member of the senior choir, concert choir, usher board, Sunday school, served as a missionary and was former church secretary. She was a member of Mrs. White and the Gospelette’s. She volunteered as a pole worker for many years and was a member of the Eastern Star, the Parker Club and the Clemson Extension Co-Op. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Lorraine Holliday of Lugoff, Jacqueline and Eddie Foster of Greensboro, N.C., Ernest and Susan Murphy of Lugoff, Minister Joseph and Shirley Murphy of Camden, Darrel Murphy of Elgin, Raymond and Ann Murphy of Lugoff, Wallace Murphy of Greensboro, N.C., Tony and Roberta Murphy of Elgin and Jennifer Mitchell of Lugoff; 34 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gillem, Rezelia Strawder, Mae Bell Dorsey, Bettye Peguese, and Mary Murphy. She was predeceased by a grandson; a daughter-in-law; and 2 sons-in-law.
