Church news

Cowpens First Baptist Church will have fall revival services Sept. 23-26. Sunday services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and the weeknight services will be at 7. The Rev. Phillip Blankenship of Blaney Baptist Church, Columbia, will speak at the opening services Sunday morning and evening. Dr. Hank Williams, pastor, will be the speaker Monday through Wednesday. The church’s 129th homecoming will be celebrated Sunday, Sept. 30, with Dr. M.B. Morrow Jr. bringing the message. Homecoming lunch will follow the morning service. Everyone is invited to come and bring a well-filled basket.

Rehearsals for the Singing Christmas Tree will begin Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. at Blacksburg First Baptist Church. Performances are set for December 16, 17 and 18. For more information, call the church office at 839-2421 or Linda Meetze at 489-3136.

There will be a special service at New Harvest Ministries, 215 Peach St., Friday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. Evangelistmissionary Mike Brown of Keavy, Ky., will be ministering. Everyone welcome.

Pacolet Road Baptist Church will host a community party Saturday, Sept. 22, from noon until 5 p.m. Pastor Jimmy Powell welcomes everyone. Singing groups on hand will be The Hinkle Family of Texas and Family Harmon of Pickens.

Bethany Baptist Church will be celebrating homecoming Sunday, Sept. 23. Morning worship service begins at 10:50 with a presentation by “Crosspoint.” Guest speaker for the morning service will be Dr. Bobby Morrow who served as interim pastor October 1993 until December 1993. Dr. and Mrs. Morrow are wellknown and well-loved in the community. Franze Williams Jr. will be presenting a skit relating to his mission trip this summer and special music will be provided by Lynn Wilson Williams and Rocky Ruppe. The two grew up in the church and Williams lives with his parents in Silver Springs, Md. A special part of the service will honor the first pastor of the mission, the Rev. J.D. Gibson, who served the church from April 1954 until July 1955. Rev. Gibson will be represented by his family. At the conclusion of the worship service, lunch will be served in the fellowship hall. Members are asked to bring plenty of their favorite foods for fun and fellowship.

Meetings

Moses Wood Camp No. 125 will host its second brigade camp meeting on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. Leland Summers will be the featured speaker and several local camps will be represented. All members are urged to attend.

Special events

Waterfall Crafters will host their 19th annual craft show and sale Sept. 21-22 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at St. Timothy Methodist Church, corner of Asheville Highway and Hospital Drive in Brevard, N.C. Many new juried artisans will offer a wide variety of diverse quality crafts. Lunch, snacks and beverages will be available. Daisy the clown will be on hand to entertain.
