Obituary of Hoover F McKay
DeFuniak Springs, Fla. – Funeral service with military honors for Hoover F. McKay, Jr., 77, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery . The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, SC 29078.
Mr. McKay died Wednesday, April 11, 2007. Born in Blaney, he was a son of the late Hoover F. McKay and Cornealie Watts McKay. He retired as Staff Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 22 years, having served in the Korean Conflict. He received the United States Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal
Surviving are his children, Dexter Dale McKay, Phillip Dean McKay and his wife, Cyndi McCall McKay of Niceville, Fla., Donald Neal McKay of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and Debra McKay Ayers of Elgin; brothers, Odell McKay, Ardell McKay, and Alvin McKay; sisters, Mae Castille, Emily Broom, Bernice Young, and Estelle Gray; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, David Keith McKay; brother, Archie McKay; and sisters, Mildred McKay Kee and Mary Jane McKay.
