Golden Circle passes available for seniors

Kershaw County residents 65 and older can receive Golden Circle passes that allow them to attend school-sponsored activities or athletic events free.

Admission to athletic playoffs is not included.

Golden Circle passes are available at all three high schools: Camden High, Lugoff-Elgin High and North Central High. Contact the main office at each school for more information. (Camden, 803-425-8930; Lugoff-Elgin, 803-438-3481; North Central, 803-432- 9858).

Race to Read event set for Oct. 14

Doby’s Mill Elementary is planning its second Race to Read event for Oct. 14.

The one-mile run/walk through Elgin begins and ends at Blaney Baptist Church. The event, which starts at 8 a.m., promotes literacy and fitness, and everyone in the community is invited to participate.

Entry fee is $10, and those who register by Oct. 1 are guaranteed an event T-shirt. All proceeds benefit the Kershaw County Public Library.

Camden High reunion now set for Nov. 18

Camden High School has changed the date for its 1986 Class Reunion to Nov. 18, in hopes of having more participation.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at Ten-Eleven Galleria, 1011 Broad St. The evening will include drinks and hors d’oeuvres as well as live music.

Deadline to sign up is Sept. 29.
