ELGIN – Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruthie Mae Ross Hornsby, 70, of Elgin will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2006, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Reverend Dallas Redding officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Northeast. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, June 25, 2006, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hornsby passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 21, 2006. Born April 14, 1936, in Elloree, SC, she was a daughter of the late Reverend Brown Canada Ross and the late Sally Mae Koon Ross. Mrs. Hornsby was a homemaker. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family first.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Diane Hornsby Snow of Hopkins and Wanda Hornsby Maldonado of Elgin; two sons, Larry Eugene Hornsby of Hopkins and Luther Wayne Hornsby of Elgin; two sons-in-law, Jerry Michael Snow of Hopkins and Charles Alton Stewart, Sr. of Columbia; one brother, Brown Canada Ross II; two sisters, Mary E. Brassell and Bernice Goff; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hornsby was predeceased by her husband, Luther Eugene Hornsby, and four great-grandchildren.
