Floy Lula Davis Ray


Floy Lula Davis Ray was born on July 19, 1921 in Lee County, a daughter of Theodore Bagley Davis and Maggie Lucille Mathis Davis.

BISHOPVILLE – Services for Floy Lula Davis Ray, 81, will be held at 4 p.m. today at the chapel of Hancock-Elmore Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Thigpen officiating. Burial will be in Piedmont Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Carol Ann Watts, 830 Woodrow Road, Bishopville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or to Tri-County Hospice, 2650-B Hardee Cove, Sumter, SC 29150.

Mrs. Ray died Monday, October 21, 2002 in a local nursing center. Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Theo Bagley Davis and the late Maggie Mathis Davis. She was a member of Hephzibah Presbyterian Church and had retired from Head Start.

Surviving are daughters, Carol Ann Watts and her husband, Steve, of Bishopville, June Jefferson and her husband, Bobby, of Darlington, Alice Hudson and her husband, Clyde, of Sumter, Annette Odom and her husband, James, Cindy Bradshaw and her husband, Gator, of Lamar, Becky Richards and her husband, Don, of Massachusetts; sons, Bucky Ray and his wife, Rene, of North Carolina, Ben Ray and his wife, Beverly, of Fort Lawn, Teddy Ray of Bishopville; sisters, Dessie McLeod, Jenny Davis and Elma Denton; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Ray.


On November 10, 2012, Floy Ray was listed as a deceased sister in the obituary of Dessie Davis McLeod.
