ELGIN – Services for Sgt. First Class Robert Girven “Bob” Amberman, U.S. Army (Ret.), 67, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2002 at Salem United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. John Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight, October 9, 2002 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Mr. Amberman died Monday, October 7, 2002. Born in Stewartstown, Pa., he was a son of the late Girven M. Amberman and Mary Jones Amberman. He had retired from the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of Dentsville Lodge #398, Order of the Eastern Star #273 and Salem United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Young Amberman; daughter, Sheri Cooper, Fayetteville, N.C.; grandson, James Robert Cooper of Fayetteville; brothers, Donald David Amberman of Stewartstown and Eugene Amberman of Towsen, Md.
