LUGOFF – Services for Howell Joseph Jeffers, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2002 at First Baptist Church of Camden with burial to follow in Spears Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Bruce Hancock and the Rev. Everett Reconnu will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight, October 9, 2002 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Camden, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Mr. Jeffers died Monday, October 7, 2002. Born in Blaney, he was a son of the late Elmoe Jeffers and Carrie Neeley Jeffers. He had retired as a carpenter from Ft. Jackson and was a member of First Baptist Church of Camden and the Adult Bible Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ruth Goff Jeffers; daughters, Ida Anderson of Lugoff, Linda Okey of Plattsmouth, Neb., Frances Stradling of Irmo and Wanda Dixon of Camden; sons, Wayne Jeffers and Steve Jeffers, both of Lugoff; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Lessie J. Goff of Lugoff; brothers, David Jeffers of Camden and Bobby Jeffers of Elgin.

He was predeceased by a son, John Edward Jeffers.
