Edward McClain Watts

Edward McClain Watts was born on September 25, 1936 in Elgin, he was a son of Robert O. Watts and Martha Mae Rabon Watts.

1940

According to United States Census reported on May 13, 1940, Robert C Watts (33) owned a home in Wateree Township, Kershaw, South Carolina, with his wife, Martha Mae Watts (27), and their children; Robert L Watts (7), James Watts (5), Hughey Watts (4), Edward Watts (3), Carolyn Watts (1) and Earle Watts (2 months). All family members reported having been born in South Carolina and lived in the same house on April 1, 1935. Robert C Watts was a laborer in road construction.

1985

On March 3, 1985, Edward M Watts was mentioned as a living son in the obituary of Mrs. Robert O. Watts.

1990

On August 28, 1990, Ed M. Watts was listed as a living brother in the obituary of Douglas “Buck” McArthur Watts.

2002

Edward Watts

Edward McClain Watts, 65, of Elgin, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002.

Mr. Watts was a retired self-employed contractor and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Surviving were his wife, Catherine Hinson Watts; daughter, Kathy Joan Bailey of Lugoff; son, Dean Watts of Lugoff; sisters, Shirley Bench and Wilma Watts of Elgin, Brenda Nash of Alabama; brothers, Robert L. Watts of Jefferson, James Watts and Laverne Watts, both of Elgin, Earl Watts of Lugoff; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Services for were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2002 at Friendship Baptist Church with burial following in Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Matt Galloway and the Rev. Bill Drees officiated. The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening, March 1, 2002 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel.
