Connie Ross Cooper


Connie Ross Cooper was born November 28, 1910, a daughter of Lawrence David Ross and Nannie Brown Ross.


On December 19, 1935, Mrs. Rufus Cooper was listed in the newspaper article “Arden News.”


On September 4, 1990, Mrs Connie Cooper was listed as a living sister in the obituary of Mrs. Ines Ross Nelson.


COLUMBIA – Services for Connie Ross Cooper, 89, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2000, at Crescent Hill Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. H. Wilson Nelson and the Rev. Ron Bryan. Interment will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Cooper will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. Visitation will be 5-7 this evening at Shives Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Crescent Hill Baptist Church, 2659 Two Notch Rd., Columbia, SC 29204.

Mrs. Cooper, widow of Rufus James Cooper, died Monday, August 7, 2000. Born in Blaney, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence David Ross and Nannie Brown Ross. She was a charter member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Cooper was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class and a former nursery assistant with the church.

Surviving are her son, Jimmy Cooper of West Columbia; daughter, Doris “Dee” Styles and husband, Charles, of Columbia; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Lawrence D. Ross Jr. of Summerville; sisters, Lois Jeffcoat of West Columbia, Naomi Lattimore of Lugoff.

Mrs. Cooper was predeceased by a daughter, Louise Gantt, sisters, Eva Ross, Inez Nelson, Pearl Jordan, brothers, James Ross and Heyward Ross.
