Charles William Branham, Sr was born on June 14, 1920 in Kershaw County, South Carolina, Gary Branham and Pet Jackson Branham.
COLUMBIA – Services for Charles William Branham, Sr., 80, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2000 at Spring Valley Baptist Church, 90 Polo Road, with the Rev. Robert Winburn and the Rev. Lawrence Southerland officiating. Burial will be at the First Baptist Church cemetery, Lugoff. Pall bearers will be Christopher Nye of Hilton Head, Charles W. Branham III of Dallas, Texas, Danny Chavis of Columbia, John C. Branham of Columbia, Joe Gary Branham of Lugoff, Jarrett Branham of Lugoff and Tucker Branham of Asheville, N.C. Honorary pall bearers will be members of the Way Sunday School Class of Spring Valley Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Spring Valley Baptist Church building fund. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at Talbert-Shives Funeral Home.
Mr. Branham, who died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at his home, was a highly respected builder of top quality houses in South Carolina for 35 years. He was a member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia throughout his career. Mr. Branham was president of the Home Builders Association of Columbia in 1965 and president of the state Home Builders Association in 1966. He played a large part in organizing several other building associations within South Carolina.
Mr. Branham was active with Columbia Country Club for many years, serving on the board of directors. He was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church.
Mr. Branham was born in Kershaw County, a son of the late Gary Branham and Pet Jackson Branham. He began his building career at age 18 and formed his own company a few years later, constructing houses in Camden, Lugoff and Columbia. He moved his company to Columbia in 1959. Mr. Branham retired in 1984.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Miles Branham; daughters Wilma Nye and her husband Douglas of Columbia, Jean Shipman and her husband James of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; son Charles W. Branham, Jr., and his wife Mikell of Columbia; grandchildren, Christropher Nye, Hope Chavis, Charles W. Branham III, Theile Branham, Tucker Branham; great-grandchildren, Jessica Chavis, Kyle Chavis; sister Christine B. Clark of Lugoff; brother Earl T. Branham of Lugoff.
