Joseph Lewis O’Quinn

1930 Census Information:

According to the United States Census recorded on May 1, 1930, Eugene H O’Quinn (30), rented a home in Millen, Jenkins county, Georgia with his wife, Annie J O’Quinn (29) and their son Joseph L O’Quinn (7). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Eugene H O’Quinn was a forman on a Log Camp.

1940 Census Information:

According to the US Census recorded on May 12, 1940, Henry Eugene O Ininn (39), rented a home on Church Street in Blaney, Kershaw, South Carolina with his wife, Annie Phillip O Ininn (38) and their children; Henry Robert O Ininn (19) and Joseph Lewis O Ininn (18).  It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina and lived in Estill, Hampton County, South Carolina on April 1, 1935. Henry Eugene O Ininn was a logging contractor, Henry Robert O Ininn and Joseph Lewis O Ininn were logging laborers.

1940

On September 15, 1940, Joseph Lewis O’Quinn and Sallie Bell Kirkland were married in Kershaw County, South Carolina.

1941

On January 16, 1941, Joseph L. O’Quinn joined the military service National Guard division in Camden, South Carolina.

1966

On August 25, 1966, Joseph E. O’Quinn was listed as the living son in the obituary of E. H. O’Quinn.

1975

On December 20, 1975, Joseph Lewis O’Quinn was listed as the living brother in the obituary of Henry O’Quinn.

1998

On September 14, 1988, Joseph L. O’Quinn was listed as the living son in the obituary of Mrs. Josephine “Josie” Phillips O’Quinn.

1999

LUGOFF – Services for Joseph Lewis O’Quinn Sr., 78, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 29, 1999 at Concord Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 28, 1999 from 6-8 p.m. in Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Memorials may be made to Concord Baptist Church, 2211 Porter Cross Road, Lugoff 29078.

Mr. O’Quinn died Saturday, November 27, 1999. Born in Estill, he was a son of the late Henry Eugene O’Quinn and Annie Josephine Phillips O’Quinn. Mr. O’Quinn was retired from DuPont. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in W.W.II. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and of the Lugoff Lodge 411. He was the widower of Sallie Belle Kirkland O’Quinn.

Surviving are his son, Joseph Lewis O’Quinn Jr. of Lugoff; daughters, Anne O. Barrett of Charlotte, Kay O. Flora of LaGrange, Ga., Pattie O. Soles of Loris; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
