The West Wateree Community Involvement Association will meet at 7 tonight at Blaney Baptist Church to discuss urban sprawl and how to deal with it.
The church is at Church Street and Blaney Road in Elgin. The meeting is open to the public.
The Sierra Club is helping to arrange for an expert on urban development to speak at the meeting. Rollie Reynolds, director of planning and zoning for Kershaw County, also will speak.
After the presentation, the association will report on community projects and recognize new members.
The association focuses on the health and safety needs of West Wateree residents as well as protecting the environment.
The meeting on Sept. 24 will address residential, industrial and commercial development and the environment. Dec 3-5 is the Elgin Catfish Stomp.
