Florrie Mae Ross Windham

1909

Florrie Mae Ross Windham was born in 1909 in Elgin, South Carolina, the daughter of Silas Ezekial Ross and Mary Emma Rose Ross.

1910

According to the United States census reported on April 22, 1910, Silas Ross (43) owned a home in Wateree, Kershaw County, South Carolina, with his wife of 23 years, Mary E Ross (40). who reported to be the mother of 9 children, 7 of whom survived. Also in the home were their children; Eddie Ross (16), Rufus Ross (11), Morgan Ross (9), Osca Ross (3) and Florimay Ross (7 months). All family members were reported to have been born in South Carolina. Silas Ross was a farmer on a general farmer and Eddie Ross was a laborer on the home farm.

1920

According to the United States census reported on January 15, 1920, Silas E Ross (56) owned a home in Wateree, Kershaw County, South Carolina, with his wife Emma Ross (50), and children; Ruffus Ross (20), Walter Ross (13), Oscar Ross (13) and Florriemae Ross (10). All family members were reported to have been born in South Carolina. Silas E Ross was a farmer on his own farm, Ruffus Ross was an operator at the depot, and Walter was a house laborer.

On October 2, 1927, Florrie Mae Ross was listed in the newspaper article, “Blaney.”

1930

According to the United States census reported on April 2, 1930, J Ernest Ross (39), owned a house on Chestnut Street, in Camden, Kershaw County, South Carolina, with his wife Leslie R Ross (39). It was reported that they were both first married at the age of 20. Also in the home was his son Ernest Ross Jr (17); daughter, Lila Ross (15) and sister, Florrie May Ross (20). All family members were reported to have been born in South Carolina. J Ernest Ross was a freight agent for Seaboard A. L. Railroad, Ernest Ross Jr was an oper, and Florrie May Ross was an operator of the telephone.

1931

On January 11, 1931, Miss Florrie Mae Ross was listed in the newspaper article “Blaney.”

1939

On November 17, 1939, Spencer David Windham married Florrie Mae Ross in Kershaw County, South Carolina.

On December 3, 1939, Miss Florie Mae Ross was listed in the newspaper article “Party Announces Wedding of Camden Couple.”

1940

According to the United States census reported on April 24, 1940, Spencer Windham (28) rented a home in De Kalb Township, Camden, Kershaw County, South Carolina, with his wife, Flora Mae Windham (30). All family members were reported to have been born in South Carolina and lived in the same place on April 1, 1935. Spencer Windham was a truck driver of gasoline and Flora Mae Windham was an operator for the telephone company.

1994

CHARLESTON – Services for Florrie Mae Ross Windham will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Stuhr’s Downtown Chapel, with burial in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Windham, wife of the late Spencer David Windham, died Friday, July 29, 1994. Born in 1909 in Blaney, she was a daughter of the late Silas E Ross and Mary Emma Rose Ross. She retired as a receptionist with Parkwood Pediatrics and was a member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Mary Webb of Charleston and Judy Sutton of Lilburn, Ga.; four grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
