Richardson To Speak

Former major league baseball player Bobby Richardson will be the guest speaker at this Sunday’s worship service at Blaney Baptist Church in Elgin.

The service begins at 11 a.m.

Richardson won five straight Rawlings Gold Glove awards and was a member of seven American League All-Star teams. He was runner-up for the American League most valuable player honor in 1962, played in 30 consecutive World Series games for the New York Yankees and was the MVP of the 1960 World Series.

“Bobby Richardson is renowned for his baseball record,” said Blaney Baptist Pastor Lawrence Dennis. “But during his years in the sports spotlight, he has maintained a strong Christian commitment.”

The church is at White Pond Road and Church Street just off U. S. in downtown Elgin.
