Edwin Powe Guy was born January 22, 1899 in Lowryville, Chester, South Carolina, son of James Lindsay Guy and Emily Louise Powe Guy.

On December 13, 1956, Edwin Powe Guy was listed as a living son in the obituary of James L. Guy.

1983

CAMDEN

Service for Edwin Powe Guy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Old Saint David churchyard, Cheraw. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Dal-na-Feidh “Meadow of the Deer,” Boykin.

Mr. Guy, 84, died Sunday, February 27, 1983 at a Charleston hospital.

Born in Loweryville, he was a son of the late James Lindsay Guy and Emily Powe Guy. He was a graduate of Porter Military Academy and earned a civil engineering degree from Georgia Tech in 1919.

Mr. Guy was formerly with Edison Electronics, Boston, Mass., and L. C. Page Boston Book Publishers, Boston. From 1940 until 1972 he was manager of Powe Veneer Co. and owner and manager of hardwood timberlands in several South Carolina counties. He was a charter member of Boykin Hunting Club.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Tilden Guy; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lindsay G. Moss of Marietta, Ga; a son, James L. Guy II of Boykin; and two grandchildren, Leslie K. Guy and James L. Guy III of Boykin.

The family suggests that those who wish to make memorials to the American Heart Association or Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter.
