The NHRA’s final Southeast Division race of the Winston WOrld Championship series will be staged Friday and Saturday at the Blaney Drag Strip with several divisional championships likely to be decided.
Gates will be open Friday at 4 p.m. with eliminations scheduled to begin at 7:30. Gates will open Saturday at 9 a.m. with elminations beginning at 7 p.m.
In addition to competition in all classes among more than 300 drivers, there will be a special duel of jet cars between Roger Guestin and Angie Hendrick, the first woman driver licensed to pilot the powerful machines.
Points earned count toward both division titles as well as toward the year-end Winston World Championship in six categories: top alcohol dragster, top alcohol funny car, competition, modified, super stock and stock. Super gas racers are competing only for divisional titles.
