Separate sealed proposals will be received by the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees for the Alteration and Renovations of the Blaney Elementary School, Elgin, South Carolina. All proposals are to be delivered to the Architect’s Office before 5:00 p.m. July 21, 1980. Project consist of installing a folding partition (furnished by Owner) and reinforcing roof joist in the cafeteria to support the folding partition. Removing masonry wall below a window and installing a new door and metal frame. Install new venetian blinds in the windows on the south wall of the cafeteria. In classroom number 119 work consist of adding a steel stud partition, removing cabinets, and relocating lockers. New wood bookshelves will be installed onto the new stud partition. Removing masonry below a corridor window and installing a new door and metal frame.
In Classroom number 117 work will consist of installing new carpet and building and installing new wood cubby holes with coat hooks. Painting, patching, and repairing of all new and adjacent areas for the above work. Also included in this project will be all the electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
At the above time and date the separate sealed proposals will be recieved and are to be publicly opened and read at the next regular school board meeting, Tuesday morning July 22, 1980.
Plans, specifications and any adenda issued prior to oepning of proposals will be covered in the bids as part thereof, and will be binding as to final excuted documents. Thee documents may be examined free of charge at the following places:
- In the office of Henry D. Boykin, AIA, PA, Architect.
- A.G.C. Offices in Columbia, S. C and Charlotte, N. C.
- F. W. Dodge Plan Room in Columbia, S. C. and Charlotte, N. C.
Plans and specification may be obtained by General Contractors from the office of the Architect upon deposit of $50.00 (Fifty Dollars) per set. The deposit for contract documents will be refunded upon submission of a bona fide bid and return of the documents to the Architect in good condition not later than ten (10) days after the opening of bids. Subcontractors and material suppliers may obtain partial plans and specification by paying for the cost of the reproduction and handling at the price of $1.50 per plan sheet and $.30 per specification sheet, which will not be refunded.
Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check or bidders bond executed by the bidder and a surety company licensed to do business in South Carolina and countersigned for the surety by an agent or attorney-in-fact who is a bona fide resident of State of South Carolina, in the sum of not less than 5% of the amount of the bid.
A 100% Performance and Payment Bond will be required of the successful bidder.
Bidders and those awarded contracts must satisfy the requirement of the South Carolina State Statutes regarding annual license tax and license tax on each individual contract. The Contractor’s and Bidder’s License Numbers must be inserted in the Proposal Forms as furnished by the Architect, and be shown on the envelope in which the bid is submitted.
The Owner expects to award a contract to the lowest responsible bidder. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening of said bid. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities herein.
