Pro Stock Featured

ELGIN- Bob Glidden and Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins head the field for a six-way Pro Stock match race that highlights tonight’s drag racing program at Blaney Drag Strip.

Glidden is the National Hot Rod Association’s defending Pro Stock world champion. The Beech Grove, Ind., ace will be at the wheel of a Ford Pinto when this evening’s action begins at 7:30.

Jenkins, a Malvern, Pa., veteran who owns a record 11 national titles, is expected to provide Glidden’s toughest opposition in a Chevrolet Monza.

Other match race entrants include Ronnie Sox of Burlington, N.C., and Roy Hill of High Point, N. C., in Dodge Colts; Harold Denton of Greensboro, N. C., in a Chevrolet Vega and Atlanta’s Hubert Platt in a Pinto.

Tonight’s program also includes open competition in Super Stock, Gas & Modified and E.T. brackets I-III, plus E. T. races for motorcycles.
