Boykin Kershaw Rose, Sr., was born on October 23, 1896, in South Carolina. to Adolphus Kennedy Rose and Roxie Christmas Rose.

1900 Census Information:

According to the United States Census reported on June 1, 1900, Adolphus Rose (36) owned a home in Wateree Township, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife of 8 years, Roxana Rose (28). She reported being the mother of 4 children, all living. Also in the home were their children; Maud C Rose (7), Olive P Rose (5), Boyton K Rose (4) and Eva B Rose (1). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Adolphus Rose was a farmer.

1910 Census Information:

According to the United States Census recording on April 18, 1910, Adolphus Rose (46) owned a farm in Wateree Township, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife, Roxie Rose (38) who was the mother of 10 children all of whom still survived. They shared their home with children, Maud Rose (17), Amelia Rose (15), Boykin Rose (13), Eva Rose (10), Allice Rose (8), Mamie Rose (6), Lena Rose (4), Norman Rose (3), Lillie Rose (5 months) and Clelly Rose (5 months). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Adolphus Rose was a farmer on a general farm.

On August 12, 1914, Boykin Rose was listed in the newspaper article “Visitors to Jubilee.”

1920 Census Information:

According to the United States Census recording on January 7, 1910, Adolphis K Rose (55) owned a farm in Wateree Township, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife, Roxie Rose (47), and children; Mellia Rose (24), Boykin Rose (23) Eva Rose (20), Allie Rose (18), Mamie Rose (16), Lena Rose (14), Norman Rose (12), Lellie Rose (10), Clelye Rose (10) and Louise Rose (7). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Adolphis K Rose was a salesman in a grocery store, Mellia Rose was a clerk in a dry goods store, and Boykin Rose was a mail carrier for rural delivery.

On September 6, 1925, Mr. Boykin K. Rose was listed in the newspaper article “Birth Announcement.”

On August 2, 1929, Mr. B. K. Rose was mentioned in the newspaper article, FAIREST AND HEALTHIEST AMOUNG SIX HUNDRED

1927

On January 10, 1927, Mr. A. K. Rose was listed as a living brother in the obituary of “Mamie I Rose Ross.”

1940 Census Information:

Head of household, Boykin Kershaw Rose (43), his wife Almena Alice Byrd Rose (41), son Boykin Kershaw Rose Jr (14), daughter Myra Joyce Rose (11) and Farrell Byrd Rose (6 months) owned a house valued at $2,000.00. It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Boykin Kershaw Rose was a mail carrier, while Almena kept house, Boykin and Myra were students, and Farrell was too young to attend school.

1967

On September 14, 1967, Mr. B. K. Rose Sr, was listed as the living maternal grandfather in the obituary of Nancy Rose Shaw.

1975

Boykin Kershaw Rose, Sr., 79, passed away on October 22, 1975. Burial was in Blaney Baptist Church Cemetery.

Boykin was born on October 23, 1896,  in South Carolina. He married Almena Byrd Rose. He was a was a mail carrier.
