Motley Rites Set Sunday

Johnnie Motley, 70, of 1010 Meredith St. died Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in High Point Memorial Hospital following hospitalization of two days and declining health of three years.

Mr. Motley, a son of the late Mack Motley and Nora Addison Motley, was born in Kershaw County, S. C. He had been a resident of High Point since 1929. He was a retired employe of Woodmark Originals and was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Motley of the home; six sisters, Mrs. Jane Jones, Mrs. Pearline Williams and Mrs. Eliza Dixon, all of Charlotte, Mrs. Bessie Dunlap of Norwood, Mrs. Frances Harper of New York City and Mrs. Theresa Wood of Elgin, S.C.; and three brothers, Tally Motley of Apoka, Fla., Pete Motley of Pittsburg, Pa., and Theodore Motley of Camden, S. C.

Funeral will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Ziami AME Church, Elgin, S. C., by the Rev. R. Robinson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Haizlip Funeral Home until sent to Elgin, S. C., Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The family will be at the funeral chapel Saturday night 8 to 9.
