David Joseph Dowey was born March 7, 1937, the son of Ernest Dowey and Beulah Peake Dowey.

David Joseph Dowey, 37, of Lugoff, died Monday, November 22, 1971, in the home of his parents after a long illness.  He was employed with DuPont and a Navy veteran.

Surviving were a son, David Joseph Dowey Jr. of Camden; his parents of Lugoff; seven sisters, Mrs. Glenn L. Brown, Mrs. Willie C Campbell, Mrs. Jasper E. Moak, Mrs. Pete Ray, Mrs. Sidney Catoe Jr. and Mrs. Claude Ray Jr. of Lugoff and Mrs. William H. Rhodus of Camden; and five brothers, Raymond Dowey, Bobby Dowey, Ronald Dowey, Sammy Dowey and Lester Dowey of Lugoff.

Funeral Services were held November 23, 1971 in Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Kornegay Funeral Home in Camden was in charge.
