Platt Tops Shirl Greer At Blaney

Huston Platt, driving a 427 super-charged Camaro, bested Shirl Greer’s fuel-injected Hemi-Barracuda in the best two of three feature race at the Blaney Drag Strip Saturday night.

Greer won the first run but was disqualified after starting early. Greer took the second run and also the third and deciding run. But he red-lighted again and was disqualified, giving the third run and the match to Platt.

In super stock competition, Bobby Tindall of West Columbia turned a 12.16 E. T. and 117 MPH to claim first place money in his 396 camaro, and Lyles Stone of Aiken, driving Julian Boswell’s Hemi-Plymouth took second place.

Noah Francis of Columbia won first place Stock Eliminator in a GTO turning a 12.74 E. T. and 110 MPH. Barry Meetze, also of Columbia, won second place in a Road-Runner Plymouth turning a 13.44 E. T. and a 104 MPH.
