Gilbert, Irmo Top Prep Card

Irmo and Gilbert, a pair of undefeated teams with three wins under their belts, will be going for four and a row in the highlights of tonight’s area prep basketball schedule.

Irmo holds Pelion while Gilbert travels to Hollywood in the features of the Sim card. In other games, Blythewood goes to Camden military and Cardinal Newman visit Chapin.

Irmo’s Yellow Jacket will be sparked by the scoring of 6-5 Ray Carr and All-Area guard Wayne Ducote. Irmo needs to stop Pelion to maintain its position and what is expected to be hotly-contested Conference 4-B race.

Joe Addy and Jimmy Hoover have been impressive for the Indians in the first three games should provide the spark for Gilbert against Hollywood.

Blythewood, a 4-B power last year, has been having its troubles so far this season, having dropped its first pair of games to Irmo and Blaney. Stanley Wilson will be the key as Blythewood hopes to return to winning form.

Cardinal Newman, behind the 35-point performance of Bobby Collins, served notice that the cards will have to be reckoned with this winter by thrashing Lexington and it’s opener Tuesday.

Chapin enters the game against the potent Cards with an 0-1 record. The Eagles, who lost last year’s high-scoring Glen Wessinger, lack height and experience.
