Alma Elaine Motley Ross

Mrs. John M. Ross, 71, of 2928 Belt Line Blvd., died today, July 21, 1967 at her residence after a long illness.

The former Alma Elaine Motley, she was born in Blaney, the daughter of the late William Motley and Mary McQuade Motley. She had lived in Columbia most of her life and was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church and a member and former secretary of the TEL Sunday School Class.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. E. F. DuBose (Faye DuBose) and Mrs. John A. Crosscope Jr. (Betty Crosscope); two sons, H. Brunson Ross and Ralph H. Ross; two sisters, Mrs. H. M. Clark (Beulah Agnes Motley Clark) of Columbia and Mrs. Charles Bursey of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Lester Motley of West Palm Beach; and 14 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. John M. Ross, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 1967 in Dunbar Funeral Home, Devin Street Chapel, with interment in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the residence and Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.

Active pallbearers will be Rev. W. A. Jackson, Homer Swartzentruber, Fred Ross, Leo Ross, Dick Smith and the Rev. Grady Prince.

On January 7, 1997, Alma Elaine Motley Ross was listed as the deceased mother in the obituary of Aubrey Faye Ross DuBose.
