Grafton Seth Wages, Jr.

Grafton Seth Wages, Jr was born in Richland County, son of the late Grafton Seth and Gennie Goss Wages.

1906

About 1906 Grafton Seth Wages, Jr and Cora Bell Meetze Wages were married.

1920 Census Information:

Grafton Seth Wages, Jr  (38) was the head of household, residing in the home was his wife;  Carrie B Wages (32) and daughters; Lyda B Wages (5), Pearle E Wages (3)  and Catherine W Wages (2) and their servant, Joe Mikley (13). The family rented a home in Shady Grove, Richland, South Carolina. Both Grafton and Cora reported they could read and write.  Grafton was a carpenter of general building.

1930 Census Information:

Grafton Seth Wages, Jr  (29) was the head of household, residing in the home was his wife;  Carrie Wages (26) and daughters; Pearl E Wages (14)  and Catherine Wages (12) Thelma Wages (10). The family owned a farm home in Shady Grove, Richland, South Carolina. Both Grafton and Cora reported they could read and write and were married about 1906.  Grafton was a farmer.

1966

Mr. Wages, 75, of Rt. 2, Columbia, was apparently overcome by smoke and was burned to death, from a brush fire that he was tending near his home Monday (March 21, 1966).

Graveside services were held today (March 22, 1966) at the graveside in Fox Hill Cemetery. The Rev. William Clyde officiated.

Surviving were his widow, Mrs. Corrie B Metz Wages; three daughters, Miss Thelma Lee Wages of Columbia, Mrs. Pearl Branham of Elgin and Mrs. Kathryn Hornsby of Lexington.

On January 1, 2011, Grafton Wages was listed as the deceased father in the obituary of Pearl Wages Branham.
