Mrs. Motley, 94, Dies; Services Will Be Friday
ELGIN – Mrs. Fannie Thornton Motley, 94, died Wednesday night at her home.
Born in Killian, she was the daughter of the late T. H. Thornton and Kisah Cooper Thornton.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Minnie G. Monroe and Mrs. Laura Ross, both of Columbia, Mrs. Corrie V. Sanders and Mrs. Clara M. Goodwin, both of Elgin; four sons, J. G. Motley, Sr., F. L. Motley, both of Elgin, J. K. Motley, of Patrick, and George V. Motley of Columbia; 29 grandchildren, 36 grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Union Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. George Partridge, the Rev. Dean Clyde and the Rev. Jack Sharpe. Interment will be in the churchyard.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons; James W. Monroe, J. K. Motley, George Mackey Goodwin, Claude Motley, Harold Motley and Edwin Hall.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacon of Union Baptist Church.
The casket will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.
Friends may call at the home in Elgin and Paschal Funeral Home.
