Howell Benjamin Tucker was born March 19, 1891, in Kershaw County, the son of James Tucker and Annie Nelly Tucker.

Howell Benjamin Tucker, 73, farmer of Rt. 2, Lugoff, died Monday, August 10, 1964 in the Columbia Hospital after a long illness. He was a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving were two sons, Edmond Tucker and Victor Tucker both of Lugoff; two brothers, Robert Tucker, Eastover, and John Tucker, Lugoff; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, August 11, 1964, at 4 p.m in Spears Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Claude Hightower, the Rev. George Walker, and the Rev. Leslie Kirkland. Interment will be in the churchyard.
Active pallbearers were Claude Tucker, David Tucker, William Tucker, Thomas Tucker, Henry Koon and D. B. Koon Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Ernest Kirkland, Dick Kirkland, Mack Kirkland, Duncan Kirkland, Bill Kirkland, Melton Brazell, Walter Richardson, H. W. Baughman, Gilliam Wooten, Jim Jacobs, John Goff, Anderson Goff, Lee Shannon, Horace Ford, Mannis Watts, Leslie Moak, and the Deacons of Spears Creek Baptist Church.
The family was at the residence of A. M. McNair in Lugoff from Tuesday at 1 p.m. until the hour of services. The body remained at the Paschal Funeral Home in Columbia until 2 p.m. when it was taken to the church.
