Varied Industry

There is particular significance to the decision of a watch-making concern to select a site in South Carolina for a new plant. It is a further enlargement of the hard-goods phase of the state’s industrialization.

South Carolina communities welcome suitable industries of either the hard -or soft-goods category. It is valuable, however, to have both, since they are affected, favorably or unfavorably, by different fluctuations of the economy.

And so, the town of Blaney is to be congratulated on the coming there of a branch of the Elgin Watch Co. We join in the welcome to the company and in gratification over the employment it will provide.
