Blaney Negro Drowning Victim

CAMDEN, S. C. (AP) – Ralph Salmond, 19-year-old Blaney Negro, drowned Thursday in a private pond near Blaney.

Salmond was swimming in the pond and sank in deep water 12 or 15 feet from shore.

Roosevelt Dixon, 16, a bystander, attempted to rescue Salmond but was unable to get him to shore.

Corner W. C. Clyburn said the drowning was accidental and no inquest will be held.
