Roland James Hodge was born March 14, 1881, in Clarendon County, the son of Joseph Hodge and Martha Ridgeway Hodge.
Roland James Hodge, 78, of 6635 Satchel Ford Road died Saturday afternoon, November 21, 1959 en route to the hospital after suffering a heart attack.
He was a retired textile worker and a member of Holly Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church near Pontiac.
Surviving were his widow, Mrs. Mittie M Hodge of Columbia; four daughters, Mrs. A. C. Dennis of Conway, Mrs. B. M. Permenter of Shreveport, La., Mrs. W. W. Paulette of Richmond, Va., and Mrs. A P. Smith of Greenville; three sons, R. B. Hodge and R. R. Hodge, both of Columbia, and J. J. Hodge of Birmingham, Ala.; one sister, Mrs. Annie Thornton of Gainesville, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Hodge were held at 4 o’clock, November 23, 1959 in Park Street Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Rev. W. C. Player and the Rev. Lloyd Hellams officiated. Interment followed in Crescent Hill Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers were D. E. Jeffers, F. K. Jeffers, R. T. Cook, Jr., Paul Byars, Logan Higgins, Murdic Branham and Guy Coker.

Parker.
All pallbearers met at the church at 3:55 o’clock, The body was take to the church at 3 o’clock, until that hour it had been at the Paschal Funeral Home. The family was at 6635 Satchelford Road.
