Lloyd M. Weidemann, B-2 Colonial Village, Columbia, is scheduled to return to New Orleans, La., soon aboard the patrol craft USS Eunice after a two-week reserve training crusie in the Gulf of Mexico.
Burnard Winburn, 712 Calhoun St., Columbia, has been promoted to corporal in the Marines. He is serving as a security guard at the Marine Detachment, Naval Air Station, in Chincoteague, Va.
First Lt. Jack Goldstein, 4120 Trenholm Rd., Columbia, is en route to Taiwan aboard the USNS Breckenridge with the 2nd Missile Battalion of the 71st Artillery, the first NIKE-HERCULES unit assigned to service in the Far East.
First Lt. John J. Wooten, Rt. 1, Columbia, recently completed the track vehicle maintenance supervisor course at the Seventh Army Tank Training Center in Vilseck, Germany.
Pvt. Bobby L. Robbins, 1329 Whaley St., Columbia, recently completed the electrician course at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.
M. Sgt. Charles E. Evans, 1413 Victoria Ave., Columbia, recently participated in combat efficiency training test in Germany.
Daniel F. Sharpe, Rt. 1, West Columbia, recently spent at three day pass at the Army’s recreation center at Garmisch in Germany’s Bavarian Alps.
Paul H. Corley, 2003 1/2 Assembly St., Columbia, has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army upon recently completing the 23-week officer, candidate course at the Infantry School, Ft. Benning, Ga.
Ed. Reese, 807 Royster St., Columbia, has graduated from recruit training at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.
Harold E. Lawson, 1501 Laurel St., Columbia, recently left the Naval Air Station at Quonset Point, R. I., aboard an Air Force C-118 transport plane bound for the cold and barren Antarctic.
Asa C. Paschal, Jr., 103 S. Sumter St., is serving aboard the attack transport USS Cambria operating with the U. S. Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean area.
Pvt. Charlie E. Jones of Columbia, is a cook in the 80th Artillery Battery A in Schweinfurt, Germany. He is a graduate of Lexington High School and was employed by the North Carolina Forester Service in civilian life.
Pvt. Wilson G. Eubanks, Rt. 3, Aiken, has arrived in Germany and is now a member of the 3rd Armored Division.
Pvt. Willie J. Bellinger, Rt. 1, Branchville, has arrived in Germany and is now a member of the 3rd Armored Division.
Alphonso J. Evans, Charleston, has been promoted to specialist four in Germany where he is an armorer in the 520th Quartermaster Company.
Pfc. William T. Springfield, Whitmire, has completed the night-week radio relay and carrier operation course at the Army’s Southeastern Signal School, Ft. Gordon, Ga.

Col. Ernest C. Watson, Bamberg, has arrived in Vietnam and is now assigned to the Military Assistance Advisory Group at Saigon. He is a 1928 graduate of Clemson.
Pfc. Christopher Mathis, Rt. 1, Newberry, has received a safe driver award while serving with the 23rd Transportation Company in Germany.
Richard L. Hill, Florence, completed recruit training recently at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island.
