James M Hornsby was born March 15, 1884 in Fairfield County, son of Silas Hornsby and Eliza Branham Hornsby.
On March 6, 1949, James Hornsby was mentioned as the living brother in the obituary of Alex Hornsby.
LUGOFF – Funeral Services for James M. “Papa” Hornsby, 71, retired farmer of Lugoff, are incomplete. The body was to remain at the Pascal Funeral Home until this afternoon, when it was to be taken to the home of Mrs. J. S. Branham in Lugoff.
He died Sunday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. S. Branham, after an extended illness.
He was born in Fairfield County, son of the late Silas Hornsby and Eliza Branham Hornsby. He attended Springvale Baptist Church near Lugoff.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Janie Dinkins of Pontiac, Mrs. J. S. Branham of Lugoff, Mrs. Mack Branham of Blaney and Mrs. Edmond Johnson of Aiken; one son Ezell Hornsby of Henderson, Tex.; two brothers, Mr. M. H. Hornsby of Blaney and Turner Hornsby of Blythewood; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
