1955
Emily Ross Kirkland,67, of Blaney, the widow of John Lee Kirkland, Jr., died November 6 1955, in the Baptist Hospital after an extended illness.
She was a member of the Union Baptist Church at Blaney.
Survivors included two daughters, Mrs. L. H. (Pauline) Driggers and Mrs. Margie Barr; two sons, Paul Kirkland and Herbert Kirkland of Blaney; one sister, Mrs. S. D. Windham of Charleston; three brothers, Eddie Ross of Columbia, Rufus Ross of Hamlet and Oscar Ross of Dillon; one adopted brother, Walter Rose of Blaney; 17 grandchildren, and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 o’clock, November 8, 1955 from Union Baptist Church near Blaney, by the Rev. Richard Brookshire, and the Rev. George Partridge. Interment followed in the Kirkland family cemetery near Blaney.
Active pallbearers will be Leslie Moak, Lexie Moak, Heyward Kirkland, Towell Kirkland, T. W. Campbell, and Woodrow Kinard.
Honorary pallbearers will be officials of the Union Baptist Church of Blaney.
Pallbearers met at the church at 1:55. The funeral procession left Paschal-Regal Funeral home at 1 o’clock.
