B & PW Club Endorses S. C. Girls’ State

The Business and Professional Women’s club of Columbia went on record to endorse the current Palmetto Girls State at the club’s June meeting held last night.

The local club is sponsoring Madge Black of Blaney, one of the girls attending the Palmetto Girls’ State.

Last nights meeting tookthe form of a picnic at the community house at Earlewood park. Arrangements for the occasion were made by Ms. Grace Allen, chairman of the recreation committee; Mrs. June Funderburk, co-chairman; Mrs. Sarah Moore McCuliough, chairman of the hospitality committee, and Katherine Roper, co-chairman.

Mrs. Paul H. Leonard, club president, presided.

Among guess introduced to the club were the two Chinese students, Pan Lan from Davidson College and Hsieh Lien-tsao from the University of South Carolina.

A songfest was led by Mrs. Sallie H. Turner, chairman of the music committee.
