150 Expected for Palmetto Girls State Here Tuesday

Registration To Be Held At USC From 2 to 4 p.m.

Legion Women Are Sponsoring Annual Project

Nearly 150 girls from all over South Carolina will gather in Columbia, Tuesday for the Third Palmetto Girls State, according to Mrs. J. Strom Thurmond, co-director, and Mrs. Irvine F. Beiser, Chairman. Girls State us sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary as a project in self-goverment for rising high school seniors.

Palmetto Girls State will be held at the University of South Carolina with the girls being house in Sims college. Registration will be held from 2 to 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at Sims College with Mrs. O. H. Wienges of St. Matthews, member of the Girls State committee, in charge, and the girls will live in their own state until after lunch Sunday, Mrs. Belser said.
