Cayce, Sept. 26 – The Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church held a meeting Friday afternoon at the church. THe Susannah Wesley Circle presented the program, after which a short business session was held. Those attending were: Mrs. Leila Manuel, Mrs. R. E. Davis, Mrs. J. A. Weaver, Mrs. Bill Rickard, Mrs. C. F. DuBose, Jr., Mrs. E. M. Kirkland, Mrs. B. D. Harrill, Mrs. J. C. Crosby, Mrs. O. R. Cummings, Mrs. Eunice Dobson, Mrs. M. H. Boyd, Mrs. Ben Hammond, Mrs. Jack Thomas, and daughters Alice Thomas, Fay Thomas, Mrs. Jack Derrenbacher, Mrs. Dan Stowe, Mrs. W. H. Whissenant, Mrs. Karl Younginer, Mrs. J. W. Johnson, Mrs. W. M. Hammond, and Mrs. Lockhart.

Maxie Vaiden of Hamlet, N. C., spent Friday with his family here.

The Business Women’s circle of the Cayce Baptist Women’s Missionary society met Monday night with Mrs. R. C. Johnson at her home on Clark street. Mrs. E. L. Sauls gave the devotional, followed by sentence prayers. The program on “Missions” was presented by Mrs. C. A. Byrd, Mrs. Lowell Epires, Mrs. J. A. Medders and Mrs. R. C. Purvis, Mrs. C. L. Hughes was program leader. A business session was held following the program, after which delicious refreshments were served to the following members: Mrs. Colie Howell, Mrs. R. E. Purvis, Mrs. I. T. Painter, Mrs. Charles A. Byrd, Mrs. Clarence H. Price, Mrs. Brady Addy, Mrs. Lowell Spires, Miss Evelyn Sloan, Mrs. J. C. Bennett, Mrs. R. C. Johnson, Mrs. Colie L. Hughes and Mrs. Ted Springer.

Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Lipscomb and son, E. M. Lipscomb, Jr., of Charleston were guest last weekend of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Jones on Lexington avenue.

B. D. Rarrill spent last weekend in Augusta, Ga.

Mrs. McAdoo Williams of New Mexico is visiting her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Williams.

The Week of Prayer for state missions was observed last week by the Cayce Baptist Woman’s Mission society.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Heckle and son, Billy Heckle, were guest last Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Davis.

Recent guest of Mrs. H. C. Derrenbacher were Mrs. Walter Inabinet and Mrs. James of Calhoun.

Edward Turk of Wilmington, Del., visited his sister, Mrs. F. C. Brogan, and daughter, Miss Elizabeth Brogan, last week.

Mrs. John Manuel of Lugoff spent last Saturday with her mother, Mrs. George T. Goodwin.

Pvt. Homer Warner of Fort Bragg, N. C., spent last week here with his wife.

The Lottie Moon and Hannah Plowden circles of the Cayce Baptist Woman’s Missionary society held their September meeting jointly in the educational building. Mrs. Leroy Watts, leader gave the devotional and presided over the business session. She also gave an interesting talk on “Talents.” Those attending were Mrs. C. B. Sanders, Mrs. C. W. Busbee, Mrs. Gary E. Price, Mrs. Leroy Watts, Mrs. Lola Redmond and Mrs. C. R. Vaughn.

Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Kinard (Wilma V. Huckabee Kinard) and son, H. W. Kinard, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Lindsey (Ruby Inez Huckabee Lindsey) visited in Blaney last Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Fields and son of Miss Mary Brogden are making their home in California.

Mrs. W. W. Trotti spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Brady in Spartanburg.

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Reese of Charleston were guest last weekend of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Reese.

Miss Jo Ellen Reed has returned to Limestone colllege, Gaffney, for her senior year.

The Rev. and Mrs. William Brockwell and family of Newberry were visitors of the Rev. and Mrs. C. F. DuBose, Jr., and family Thursday.

Mrs. Allene Mitchell and Mrs. Karl Younginer and Karla Jane Younginer visited Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Younginer in Irmo Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Radford of Raleigh, N. C., were guests the past week of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Linder.

Mrs. H. E. Wofford of Columbia is spending the weekend with Miss Myrtle Wofford and Mrs. T. M. Vaiden.

The friends of Mr. and Mrs. Iomy Thomas will be glad to know that their son is improving after undergoing a recent operation.

Mrs. R. T. Williams has returned home from Florida after visiting her husband, who is in the service.

The friends of Pfc. ALbert J. Lorick will regret to learn that he is ill in a hospital in Charlotte, N. C.

Mrs. J. W. Garvis and sons, Gerald Garvis and Ferrell Garvis, have returned from the Baptist hospital.

Miss Minnie Bell Lorick and Mrs. Jimmie Berry have returned after a visit to the latter’s brother.

Mrs. Claude Redmond is ill at her home.

Mrs. Carrie Belle DuPriest visited her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Davis in Columbia Thursday.

Miss Betty Jean Allen is spending the weekend in Atlanta, Ga., with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Allen.

Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Bray and son ALbert Leroy Bray, are spending the weekend in Atlanta with friends.

Mrs. S. K. Abbott and mother, Mrs. W. J. Cayce, are visiting relatives in Wilmington, N. C.

Ben Williams visited friends and relatives in Cayce recently.

Mrs. Luther Derrick spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Parcher and Miss Maggie Lou Rucker.

Mrs. J. M. Rabon and daughter, Lois Rabon, are visiting her son in Massachusetts.

Miss Neva Mitchell, Miss Myrtle Wofford, Miss Evelyn Sloan, Miss Ernie Wicker, Miss Ethel McLeod and Mr. Smith, Attended the teachers meeting held in Lexington Thursday afternoon.

The Neale young circle of the Cayce Baptist church met with Mrs. C. C. Hill at her home on State street, Tuesday evening. Mrs. G. T. Goodwin taught the book, “More Than Money.” Those present were: Mrs. D. K. Sturkie, Mrs. W. W. Bennett, Mrs. J. B. Batchelor, Mrs. Charles E. Brown, Mrs. S. L. Byrd, Mrs. V. D. Martin and Mrs. T. D. Purvis. After the study course delicious refreshments were served by the hostess.
