According to the United States Census reported on June 1, 1900, Adolphus Rose (36) owned a home in Wateree Township, Kershaw County, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife of 8 years, Roxana Rose (28). She reported being the mother of 4 children, all living. Also in the home were their children; Maud C Rose (7), Olive P Rose (5), Boyton K Rose (4) and Eva B Rose (1). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Adolphus Rose was a farmer.

1910 Census Information:

According to the United States Census recording on April 18, 1910, Adolphus Rose (46) owned a farm in Wateree Township, Kershaw County, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife, Roxie Rose (38) who was the mother of 10 children all of whom still survived. They shared their home with children, Maud Rose (17), Amelia Rose (15), Boykin Rose (13), Eva Rose (10), Allice Rose (8), Mamie Rose (6), Lena Rose (4), Norman Rose (3), Lillie Rose (5 months) and Clelly Rose (5 months). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Adolphus Rose was a farmer on a general farm.

1920 Census Information:

According to the United States Census recording on January 7, 1910, Adolphis K Rose (55) owned a farm in Wateree Township, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife, Roxie Rose (47), and children; Mellia Rose (24), Boykin Rose (23) Eva Rose (20), Allie Rose (18), Mamie Rose (16), Lena Rose (14), Norman Rose (12), Lellie Rose (10), Clelye Rose (10) and Louise Rose (7). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Adolphis K Rose was a salesman in a grocery store, Mellia Rose was a clerk in a dry goods store, and Boykin Rose was a mail carrier for rural delivery.

According to the United States Census recording on May 9, 1930, Adolphus K Rose (66), owned a farm in Wateree Township, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife, Roxie A Rose (47). They reported themselves as having been married when he was 29 and she was 20. They shared with home with children; Allie M Rose (27), Norman K Rose (23), Clelye C Rose (20), Lely V Rose (20), Louise H Rose (17) and Lena B Ward (24) who was divorced; and grandchild, Randolph W Ward (2). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Adolphus K Rose was a farmer on a general farm, and Norman K Rose was a clerk at a grocery store.

1935

On December 1, 1935, Mr. A. K. Rose was listed in the newspaper article “Holly-Rose.”

1936

On September 8, 1936, A. K. Rose was mentioned as a pallbearer in the obituary of Edward M. Flaherty.

1940 Census Information:

According to the United States Census recording on May 12, 1940, Adolphus Kennedy Rose (76), owned a farm in Blaney, Kershaw, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife, Roxie Christmas Rose (68) and daughters; Allie Mae Rose (38) and Lelye Virginia Rose (32). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. The reported living in rural, Kershaw County, South Carolina on April 1, 1935. It was also reported that none of the family members worked.

1946

Adolphus Kennedy Rose, 82, of Elgin, Kershaw, South Carolina, passed away on December 6, 1946 at his home.

Funeral Services were held at 4 o’clock on December 8, 1946, from Blaney Baptist Church, with Interment to follow in the churchyard. The Rev. George Walker, the Rev. A. L. Willis, the Rev. Mr. Patridge, the Rev. A. S. Lockee and the Rev. B. F. Carson will officiate.

He was a member of the Blaney Baptist Church

Surviving were his widow; Roxie Alice Christmas Rose; eight daughters,   Mrs. Thomas B Kelley, Sr. (Maude Rose Kelly), Mrs. R. K. Williams, Mrs. J. F. Eddleman, Mrs. David Harrison, Mrs. Pat Murphy, and Mrs. Ben F. Whaley, all of Columbia; Mrs. C. M. Flaherty, Hamlet, N. C., and Miss Allie Rose, Blaney; two sons, Boykin K Rose, Sr. and  Norman K Rose, both of Blaney; one brother, Jimmie T. Rose of Columbia; 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The active pallbearers will be W. E. Christmas, Walter Kelley, Dupre Percival, Claude Farmer, E. H. Ross and Cook Broome. The honorary pallbearers will be: J. T. Ross, Sr., Dr. W. G. Grigsley, S. W. Rose, J. D. Bailey, E. T. Bowen, F. A. Nelson, J. D. Watson, Sr., S. H. Ross, A. D. Goff, R. M. Coker, Gary Jacobs, Ike Jacobs, J. B. Skipper, T. E. Campbell, John R Abbott, J. B. Motley, Henry Sanders, C. W. Wooten, W. L. Miles, Leslie Moak, Ernest Kirkland, J. P. Ross, A. J. Kelly  and C. M. Porter.

The body was at the residence in Blaney and the active pallbearers are requested to meet at the house at 3:45 p.m. and the honorary pallbearer are requested to meet at the church at 3:55 p.m.
