Hilliard Green Brazell was born on April 23, 1866 in Richland County.
Green Brazell, 79, died at his residence at 1408 Heyward street at 12:10 a.m. today, April 20, 1946 after being in declining health for several months and seriously ill for one week.
He had lived in Columbia for the past eight years. He was a member of the Spears Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving him were two daughters, Mrs. John Sanders of Blaney and Mrs. C. H. Hammond of Columbia; five sons, Addison Brazell of Winnsboro, Tom A. Brazell, Laurie Brazell, all of Columbia; two half-brothers, Sammy Dabbs and Jesse Dabbs of Columbia; 29 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Spear’s Creek Baptist church at 4 o’clock Monday afternoon, April 22, 1946. The rites were conducted by the Rev. W. A. Galloway, pastor of the Freewill Baptist church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Walter Harris, S. V. Smith, O’Neal Birchmore, L. C. Bellamy, W. J. McKnight, and J. C. Birchmore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Red Kelley, W. V. Huff, Homer Harris, Alvin Bailey, R. Stivender and George E. Pottage.
