Two Brothers Held In Jaw-Breaking Row

Mendel Goff, 21 and his brother, Talmadge Goff, 19, of Dreyfuss street are being held on a charge of assault and battery with intent to kill for an alleged attack upon Murdock Williams, 29, of 2517 Park street at 1 o’clock Friday morning. Williams was taken to the Columbia hospital suffering from a jaw fracture and injuries about the face.

Deputy Sheriff Thomas R Scott, who investigated the affair with Deputy Sheriff Rufus P Davis, said last night that the argument arose over two girls the men were escorting home, and the attack occurred on the street near the girls’ residence, where the two were taken into custody for the sheriffs.

A hearing will take place when Williams has recovered sufficiently to give his account of the affair.
