During the week of April 23-29, the Rev. Willie Cromer of the Westminister Baptist church, will conduct a revival meeting in the West Columbia Baptist church. The service will be held at 8 o’clock each evening.
The Rev. Mr. Cromer is a former West Columbia boy. He is a graduate of the Brookland-Cayce high school, class of 1927. During his high school days he meant much to the West Columbia Baptist church and its program. The then BYPU made good progress under his directorship. The work that he began in high school continued throughout his four years of college which were spent the University of South Carolina. He received his A.B. degree there, and then went to the Southern Baptist Theological seminary at Louiseville, Ky., for his seminary work. He was graduated from the seminary in 1934.
His first church after graduation was at Blaney, where he stayed for three years. During the three years he spent at Blaney he took additional work at the Southern Theological seminary toward his doctor’s degree.
In 1937, Mr. Comer received a call to the Duke Street Baptist church in Ninety-Six. He saw seven years of fruitful work there. Every department of the work increased during these years. He left a nice church building and many educational facilities there.
February of this year Mr. Cromer resigned his church at Ninety-Six to take up work at the Baptist church in Westminister. He is meeting with success in his new field of work.
