PFC Calvin Franklin Blackwood was born August 28, 1917 to Thomas William Blackwood and Rosa Lee Morris Blackwood.

PFC Calvin Franklin Blackwood, died in Saipan on July 9, 1944.

Private First Class Blackwood entered the service in 1941 and was a member of Company B, 105th infantry, a machine gun outfit.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Rosa B. Jordan of Kline; three sisters, Mrs. Nick Bowen of Blaney, and Mrs. J. C. Jones, both of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mrs. H. L. Medlin of Columbia, and one brother, Pearl Blackwood of Kline.

The body will arrive in Barnwell tonight and will remain at Peeples Funeral home until the hour of service.

Rites will be conducted at 3 p.m. tomorrow, June 13, 1948 at the gravesite at the friendship Baptist church by his pastor, the Rev. M. B. Welch. Full military honors will be accorded by the Barnwell county National Guards.
