Willie Thomas Hornsby was born in 1889

Willie Thomas Hornsby, 54, of Blaney, was instantly killed in an automobile accident in Jacksonville, Florida, on Thursday, June 10, 1943.

He was living with his sister, Mrs. R. V. Saucer, in Jacksonville.

Mr. Hornsby is survived by his mother, Mrs. C. H. Hornsby of Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Etta Goff of Blaney and Mrs. Saucer; two brothers, Joseph T. Hornsby and C. B. Hornsby of Columbia, and nine children, Holly T. Hornsby, Mrs. Christine Ross, Wiley Hornsby, Vernelle Hornsby, Rean Hornsby, Faye Hornsby, Gladys Hornsby, Willie T. Hornsby, Jr., and Amos Hornsby, all Blaney.

His body arrived in Columbia at 5 o’clock, on June 13, 1943 and will remain at the Dunbar Funeral home until the time for the service.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Union Baptist church near Blaney at 5 p.m. on June 13, 1943 by the Rev. Mr. Johnson. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
