Classroom Committee Meets Here

Steering committee members of the South Carolina department of classroom teachers met here yesterday to outline objectives for their year’s work.

Mrs. Louise G. Carson, Beaufort, president of the organization which is a part of the South Carolina Education association, presided at the sessions.

A. C. Flora, Columbia school superintendent and president of the National Education association, spoke to the group on Federal aid and other problems related to education in this state and the nation.

Mrs. Carson said that she was enthusiastic over the good attendance and participation of the committee here yesterday.

Present were: First district, Mrs. B. W. Badger, Charleston; J. V. Williams, Summerville; second district, Miss Abbie Bryan, Sumter; third district; Miss Claudia Pounds, Ninety Six; Fourth district, Miss Cecile Huggins, Greenville; fifth district, Harold Funderburk, Blaney; sixth district, Mrs. F. W. Medlin, Conway, and Miss Helen Baker Hartsville.

Ex-officio members present were: Mrs. Carson, president: Miss Ella May Atkinson, Columbia, vice president: Mrs. Ruth THomas, Walterboro, secretary; and Miss Louise Brown, chairman of the salvage committee.
