Thomas Wiley Watson was born December 15, 1865, near Lugoff, South Carolina, he was the son of the Mr. T. W. Watson.

On August 12, 1914, T. W. Watson was listed in the newspaper article “Visitors to Jubilee.”
1940 Census Information:
Head of household, Thomas Wiley Watson (73); his wife, Mattie Branham Watson (46); and his brother-in-law Joges Branham (35) owned a house valued at $2,000.00. It was reported at all family members were born in South Carolina. Thomas Wiley Watson was a merchant of a Retail Grocery; Mattie Branham Watson kept house and Joges Branham was a mail carrier for the Post Office.
1941
Thomas Wiley Watson, 76, for 30 years a farmer and merchant of Blaney died on February 25, 1941, at his residence. He was a member of the Blaney Baptist church.
Surviving were his widow, Mrs. Mattie Branham Watson; one son, J. D. Watson of Blaney; two daughters, Mrs. J. M Thornton of Camden and Mrs. J. E. Thornton of Winnsboro, 23 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, February 27, 1941 at 2:00 from Smyrna Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. B. F. Carson. Interment followed in the churchyard.
Active pallbearers will be L. P. Rose, T. E. Bowen, J. Paul Ross, B. K. Ross, A. D. Goff, and J. D. Bailey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. W. D. Grigbsy, S. H. Ross, Jessie T. Ross, S. W. Rose, A. K. Rose, A. B. Nelson, Dr. T. W. Knight, Sheriff J. H. McLeod, J. R. Rose, John Abbott, W. D. Sanders, and M. C. Arnette.
