The W. M. U. of Blaney Baptist church held its December meeting Thursday night at the home of Mrs. J. D. Watson, Mrs. T. M. McCakill, had charge of the program. “Difficulties of the Orient” was the topic for the evening. Miss Madge Funderburk led the devotionals. The following discussed different phases of the topic: Mrs. Paul Chastain, Misses Helena Willis, Edith Boyce and Cathryn Livingston. Special music was by Misses Sidelle Ellis and Beatrice Ross.
After the program the society enjoyed a social hour. Two games were sponsored by Miss Cathryn Livingston. The guest were invited into the dining room. The dining tables was a lovely scene. Old Santa and his reindeer diving through the snow adorned the center. Beautiful silver candleholders and green candles aided in making Santa seem more real. An appetizing buffet supper was served. The color scheme of red and green was carried out in detail.
Under the beautifully-lighted Christmas tree in the reception room were gorgeous packages. These gifts were distributed. Santa Clauses were given as favors.
The hostesses were Mrs. J. D. Watson, Misses Sidelle Ellis, Helena Willis and Cathryn Livingston.
