Henry Robert Humphries was born on August 5, 1886 in Kershaw County, South Carolina to John Kornelias Humphries and Mary Branham Humphries.
Henry Robert Humphries, 53, died suddenly at his home in Winnsboro at noon yesterday, January 6, 1940, after being ill only a few hours.
He had lived there for the past 13 years and had been connected with the Winnsboro mills. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Mr. Humphries was survived by his widow, Mrs. Leila Rabon Humphries; three daughters, Misses Frances Humphries, Mamie Humphries, Patricia Humphries; four sons, Charlie Humphries, Eddie Humphries, Wylie Humphries, and R. J. Humphries, all of Winnsboro; his mother, Mrs. Mamie Humphries of Lugoff; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Hill of Hendersonville and Mrs. Martha Walker of Winnsboro; five brothers, Tom Humphries of Rock Hill, Warren Humphries of Florence, John Humphries, Douglas Humphries and Ben Humphries, all of Lugoff.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 o’clock this afternoon, January 7, 1940 from Stephen Green Memorial Baptist church by the pastor, the Rev. M. C. Padgett. Interment followed in Springvaile churchyard near Rabon Crossroads.
