It was reported that all family members were born in South Carolina. Willie Davis was a farmer and Lizzie reported being the mother to 4 children.

It was reported that all household members were born in South Carolina. William E Davis was a farmer, George Grant was a repairman for an auto shop, Allie Grant was a laborer on general farm and Willie Simpson was a salesman for a general merchandise store.

Willie Edward Davis, 74, died at his residence on the Leesburg road at 1:30 yesterday, December 31, 1939, in the afternoon after an illness of four weeks.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Brown’s Chapel Methodist church, was a loyal church member, a devoted husband and father and a good citizen of his community and Columbia.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lizzie Proctor Davis; five sons, J. R. Davis, Tom Davis, R. P. Davis, W. A. Davis and Sam Davis all of Columbia; seven daughters, Mrs. T. G. Wilson, Mrs. Allie Grant, Mrs. J. E. Glenn, Miss Mattie Davis and Miss Gussie Mae Davis of Columbia; Mrs. Willie Shannon of West Columbia and Mrs. F. M Gifford of Greenville; two brothers, C. L. Davis of Columbia and D. Sam Davis of Blaney; 31 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon, January 2, 1940, from Woodfin Baptist church (near Veterans’ hospital) by the Rev James Jennings. Interment will follow in Browns’ Chapel Methodist Churchyard.
