Centers Are Equipped To Give Service
Dr. E. P. White, Says Man Preventative Measure are Available
The district health centers of the Richland county health department are in functioning order, according to word yesterday from Dr. E. P. White, director.
These centers in Eastover, Lykesland and Blythewood have been partially equipped by the respective communities and will be added to as seems feasible Doctor White said.
Services rendered will be the usual public health preventative measures as follows:
Immunization against diphtheria; blood test for syphilis, malaria and typhoid; pre-natal care; well-baby conferences; health supervision of crippled children, tuberculosis patients or contacts and of school children,; investigating and quarantining of communicable diseases and supervision for general sanitation.
Doctor White yesterday asked the co-operation of agencies in referring their patients to the office in the proper district and the correct time.
Following is a schedule of clinics and office hours:
District No. 1 – Central office, basement of Columbia hospital: office hours, Friday and Saturday mornings, 8:30 until 1; prenatal clinic every Monday afternoon, 1:30; well-baby clinic. Rose Hill Methodist church, second Tuesday, 8:30 a.m.
District No. 2 – Blythewood office, rear of cannery on school ground; office hours, Thursday, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, 8:30 a.m. until 1; (health officer present fourth Thursday, 4 p.m.); prenatal clinics, Blythewood, fourth Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. State Park, Zion Negro church, third Wednesday, 9:30 a.m.; Johnston school near Blaney, first Wednesday, 1:30 p.m.
District No. 3 – Lykeland office, near Lykesland post office: office hours, Tuesday p.m., 1:40-4:30, and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 1; (health officer present third Tuesday afternoon); prenatal clinic, Congaree, fourth Wednesday, 1:30 p.m.
District No. 4 – Eastover office in building with magistrate’s office; office hours, Wednesday and Saturday mornings, 8:30 to 1; (health officer present second Tuesday morning); prenatal clinics, Eastover Negro school, third Thursday, 1:30 p.m.; Cross Roads school, second Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
